Brett Keane Personal Story
I was born in St.Louis, Mo., December 21, 1976. I was raised a Christian. Birth was tough because I had a heart issue, and my mother discovered I had spots on my lungs. When the doctor brought me to my mother, she freaked out because I turned as blue as a smurf. My father told me, later on that I was not meant to be born, I was an accident. Apparently my mother had no interest in aborting me. I grew up on the hard streets of St.Louis. I had to learn how to get tough or get beaten, like a side of beef, by other street kids. For awhile there I was attending a school where I was one of the few white kids. I learned about racism very early in my life. Every day I received a pounding, but I never gave up. My father ended up leaving, which would not be the first time, so my mother ended up losing our hell hole we called home. I had to go live with my hardcore Christian grandmother, who referred to me as 'bastard' on a consistent basis. She forced me into church and pushed me to read the bible. I was tested on what I learned from the holy book. If I failed, I was thrown into her dark basement, with no food for hours and sometimes days.
I remember thinking that the beatings and abuse I received was deserved. Because as a Christian I was convinced I needed to live like Jesus Christ. I would later discover that the savior was a fictional character, and that my pain was all too real. My mother was fairly young when she had me. Her depression ended up ruining her life. The constant return of Brett Keane Sr. was not helping matters. My father was a very angry man when I was younger. I recall many nights where he abused my mother and myself. It seemed like I was shipped off to my grandmother, all the time, when he came back into the picture.

Between ages 10-13, I watched my Grandmother rot away from cancer. This caused my mother's depression to rocket. She prayed all the time. Many times I heard her praying for death. Being alone with 3 kids was tough on any single mother. No one, including the church she attended, wanted to help. Now that Wanda (Her mother) was dead, she turned to family services, where my siblings and I would be divided up into foster homes. I would find myself in the city one day and then the next out in the country. I was constant changing schools. Later on in life, my mother ended up in a home for disabled. Somehow, she got a hold of insulin without nurses noticing. She went into her room and overdosed. The church she use to go to said that because she committed suicide, she would burn in Hell for all eternity. It didn't matter that she helped many people out in the past. It did not matter that she helped homeless people and used to volunteer at the soup kitchens.

Son and Daughter
My Son and Daughter are the light of my life. Smart and loving. My daughter is disabled but she is strong and sweet. Always telling her teachers how beautiful she thinks they are. She's very popular with people because of her friendliness. My son is intelligent and he is more of a loner. He loves games and comic book movies. He and I have had some interesting talks about the universe.

Brett Keane You Tube Beginning
When I started You Tube, I never expected the type of success I would receive. The site was littered with cat and family videos. Nothing of real substance. My first video I ever put out was called "Science VS Religion". The Video consisted of some pictures and my voice. Back then I had no idea how to use web cams. Friends kept telling me I should try the site because of my voice. I searched for other Atheists to network with but only a few existed like Captain Awesome and Boring Dispatcher (who passed away awhile back). I made at least 50 talking videos, before finally grabbing a web cam revealing myself on You Tube. This was met with encouraging, as well as bad, results. Apparently, some did not like the way I looked. I learned after awhile, even if I looked like Tom Cruise or Brittney Spears, it would not have made a difference; because people on the internet are hateful and shallow no matter what. I noticed, at the time, there were no debates between Religion and Atheism, so I started making church phone calls. This seemingly innocent act on my part, was met with praise and support, so I continued. Atheists abound started coming out of the woodwork.

Brett Keane Church Videos
On the left is a playlist of Brett Keane church videos. New ones always added and old classic works. I've also called Muslim mosques as well. Sometimes calls were productive. Other times the people seemed angry about being questioned, which makes the point and case that religion fears growth. I don't see a future for any religion that has no interest in evolving. When asked "What would it take to believe in God?". My answer has always been," When you provide evidence."

My Atheist Experience
Brett Keane on CNN News
Christians and Muslims made threats to me, through comments and emails, and some nasty videos from time to time. But my popularity continued to grow, and I encouraged other Atheists to make videos and express themselves. It was nice to see that I wasn't alone when people started speaking out. Groups like the Rational Response Squad made a name for themselves for a short time. CNN actually used my video footage on the news awhile back, when the movie '2012' was soon to be released. Video can be watched above.
You Tube started offering partnerships and I think this is one of the key reasons Atheism began it's drama wars. The more famous you became on You Tube, it meant more views and more money. A lot of materialistic Atheists came forward like The Amazing Atheist. Our interaction was friendly at first, but soon I would find myself forced into a drama that would haunt my You Tube Career for the next few years and seemed to never end. Those events can be watched below.
